Plain foundation is pure beeswax and can be used in the brood chamber as is, but will require additional wiring if to be used for extracting honey.

Crimp Wired foundation is pure beeswax with vertical wires embedded in it, but it is recommended that you embed horizontal wires for the most strength.

The waxed plastic foundation provides a deeper cell and higher definition that encourages bees to work faster and requires no wiring or pinning which saves time and money. The 8 1/2" plastic foundations are available in black or white. The 5 5/8" plastic foundations is only available in white.
